Alarms fitted with an IP communicator will also include external sounders.
IP Communicators are often used for premises in areas where the key-holders live or work close by.
The system will be linked by cable or wi-fi to your broadband hub.
Smart Alarm Key Features:
The IP Communicator connects to your intruder alarm panel or is built in and communicates using your internet broadband connection via the cloud. It's a cost-effective way to be alerted if your alarm goes off when you're out.
The telephone numbers of the people that you want it to message if the alarm is triggered are programmed into the cloud. When triggered, the Smart Alarm will send text alerts to your smart phone. Different types of alerts can be programmed to give you specific messages.
The person who receives the text will be able to call up the details on their smart phone and reset the system remotely if necessary.
If cameras are fitted to your Smart Alarm, you can interrogate them to see what happened or just view them when required.
If a home automation gateway is also fitted then you will be able to connect to turn on lights or control your heating etc. remotely.
Pros:
Connects to your existing broadband internet hub.
Cheap to run, as it uses a cloud low cost service.
The IP communicator is relatively cheap to buy.
Cons:
You do need a broadband connection.
If an intruder cut the line where it comes into the premises, the IP communicator would not be able to send out.
You may need to install a cable to connect your existing broadband hub to the IP communicator unit (unless you have wi-fi).
You need to find reliable people who you can trust with a key and that live nearby to be the message recipients if you're not available.
